Join American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters and students as we consider topics pertinent to our profession. We will engage in trouble-shooting, problem solving and relating to others of “like mind.” So bring your own topics that you would like to address. This workshop will address ethical decision making for working interpreters. Participants will consider the RID Code of Professional Conduct and apply the codes to specific interpreting scenarios. A portion of the workshop will involve working in groups as we consider possible outcomes and propose solutions and ethical behavior.

Kevin Babin

Native of Louisiana, resides in Nixa, Missouri. Kevin and his wife, Karla, have 4 adult children, Kyla Babin Mortenson, Josiah, Aubree, and Bethany and 4 grandchildren.

Started signing approximately in 1977.

Served in a variety of roles, (Lifeguard, Counselor, Head counselor, Speaker), at Assemblies of God Deaf Camps across the nation since 1978.

1981-1984 Lived and traveled with Deaf people in Music, Drama, Sign Language, Mime, Ministry team throughout the USA and 13 other countries. Presently has been to more than 30 countries, & lived with Deaf people in many settings.

Ministry Team Leader in overseas ministry, working with AG Missionaries and national AG representatives working with Deaf people in Nigeria, West Africa, and Managua, Nicaragua.

1995 - Present AG US Missionary

2001 - 2020 Pastor of Ozark Mountain Deaf Church AG, Springfield, Missouri.
